ARISE&WIN is a research project to design better supportive structures for self-employed young women in Nigeria. ARISE&WIN is built on a foundation of co-production and collaboration. Researchers, self-employed young women, policymakers and other stakeholders from institutions including the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Douglas Hospital Research Centre, McGill University, Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission have joined forces to develop a research project that explores the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other significant life events on self-employed young women. The team is also working towards co-creating solutions that will enhance the work and physical, mental and social wellbeing of self-employed young women. The grant is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
